Dead or Alive 4 (MALE)

Opening up the night's matches, the remorseless noob-owning El Divino Xmas faced off with Messy, as Hayabusa and Gen Fu respectively on DWA Coliseum. El Divino Xmas looked to have controlled the first two rounds, but grew sloppy on the advantage, allowing Messy to come back and win both rounds against the explosive ropes. El Divino Xmas then had a solid round, getting off the famed Izuna Drop, and picking up the point, before trading rounds with Messy. Messy made his way to game point at 4-2, with El Divino looking to be out of gas. El Divino Xmas missed almost every counter, allowed himself to fall to repeated catch grabs, and overall just looked sloppy. Messy walked away with the match 5-2.

FIFA 08

Next up, the extremely passionate Zerocero took on the ChrisyB killer, Bazza, as France and Spain respectively. Zerocero sent the entire crowd into a frenzy after taking a 2vs1 against Bazza’s keeper, to pick up the first point of the game, moving to a 1-0 score that held until the half time. Heading into the second half, Bazza repeatedly set himself up to score, but Zerocero was just on another level. His play seemed like a night and day difference from the Latin America Final. By the end of regulation time, Zerocero looked completely charged to have played another game of FIFA. Still, MEXICO CITY FURIA excitedly took the 1-0 win on the scoreboard.

FORZA Motorsport 2

At the hump of the match, the race between the highly ranked SALVO team and the Latin America Final winners began with a quickness. The pairs fired through the first few turns of the track, before a smash up allowed Picaso to sneak out ahead, where he absolutely took off. DaveySkills made his way to second, with the MEXICO CITY FURIA racers trailing behind. The final order of the race favored the SALVO immensely, with Picaso in first, DaveySkills in second, LEGITRACER in third, and mEtAlX in fourth.

Counter-Strike Source

Closing off the match, the extremely successful and terrifying SALVO Counter-Strike: Source squad went up against the brave little toaster of the CGS, the FURIA. The FURIA shocked the fans by decimating the SALVO for two straight rounds on the defensive side of de_inferno. The FURIA continued to play surprisingly strong for the rest of the half, but lost steam towards the end when the SALVO were able to pick up three rounds, making the score 6-3 heading into half time.

The FURIA began the second half off with some momentum, after they charged up banana and into the A bomb site, where SecretAgent picked up three frags to take the round. The FURIA shot themselves in the proverbial foot, waiting too long to hit the A site again, running out of time in the midst of a fire fight in the bomb site. The FURIA continued to plow through the half, exposing the SALVO’s weakness that is a slow rush into A, but ran out of gas in the fifth round, losing the round that would ultimately be the match winning point overall. The FURIA won the game 10-5 at regulation, going on to pick up two more rounds, ending the overall game 12-6. The disappointing fact of the outcome is that the FURIA team had finally fell into an exciting groove, but it was just too little too late.

Dead or Alive 4 (FEMALE)

SarahLou battled against Hitomi1, as Kasumi and Hayate respectively on Crash Club. SarahLou started off with mixed results, absolutely destroying Hitomi1 to begin the match with a Greatest, before allowing Hitomi1 to dominate her for almost similar results. The two then fought an extremely close round, with SarahLou taking an early lead, nearly losing the round to Hitomi1’s comeback, before closing it with a miraculous counter off of a kick. SarahLou began to control the game, moving to game point at 4-2, and looked to have had it finished, when Hitomi1 stepped up her game and amazingly came back with only a sliver of health. SarahLou was finally able to finish Hitomi1, walking away with a 5-3 score for the board.

Dead or Alive 4 (FEMALE)

The ladies kicked the match off first, with Mystik, as Hayate, taking on Catpower, as Gen Fu, on Temple on the Mountain. Catpower used Gen Fu to his full potential, abusing Mystik with the low wake up kicks, as well as a catch grab to take the round. Mystik was not impressed, and began completely crushing Catpower, blocking all of the launchers, and finding every opportunity possible to do damage. Mystik won five straight rounds to get things going with a cool 5-1.

FIFA 08

Second in line for the match was the FIFA action, with Anomaly taking on zz, as Brazil and France respectively. The game started off with a bang for the DRAGON, as zz scored a goal off of the first drive of the first half. Anomaly tied the game up a short time later, with the 1-1 score holding up into half time. Early into the second half, Anomaly was able pick up another goal, taking the lead for the first time since the beginning of the game, and holding it with his extremely solid play. Anomaly picked up a third point, using the tried and true maneuver of a centered pass in front of the next, followed by a header. Anomaly’s 3-1 score held until the end of the game, giving Anomaly one of the better performances of the World Final thus far.

FORZA Motorsport 2

The race began as most races do for the CORE racers, quickly with light bumping. General E Live moved into the cork screw turns bumper to bumper with XOS, before the two began trading positions between first and second. Finally, Phantom snuck past XOS, giving the CORE the first and second position on the standings. The CORE racers entered the corkscrew turns on the third lap without any opposition, ending the race with General E Live in first, Phantom in second, Lewis in third, and XOS in fourth.

Counter-Strike Source

The match ended with some good ol’ fragging out between the CORE boys and the DRAGON. The teams traded the first few rounds, with the CORE adapting after losing the first round to a split into A by the DRAGON. The CORE, on defense on de_dust2, seemed to be having trouble against the DRAGON’s moves into A, but still kept the first half considerably close, picking up four rounds, giving the DRAGON the 5-4 advantage heading into second half.

The CORE took charge for the first two rounds of the second half, before the DRAGON picked up two rounds for themselves, the second of which featuring an impressive 1vs1 against DAFF. The CORE took charge, finally playing to their roster’s potential, moving themselves into game point position at 9-7. The CORE moved a heavy push into the B bomb site, fragging the remaining DRAGON players just as the bomb was planted, giving them the 10-7 win at regulation time. The CORE gave up the final round when Torrez fragged his teammate on purpose to allow the time to run out, ending the game 10-8 total for the CORE.

Dead or Alive 4 (MALE)

After the race, it was time for the reinvigorated Mr. CGS himself, Offbeat Ninja, to face off against Kindfox, as Ein and Kokoro respectively on Waterfall Valley. Offbeat Ninja took an early lead, sending Kindfox off of the bridge and into the water, where Offbeat Ninja proceeded to mash in Kindfox’s face. Offbeat Ninja picked up a second point, before Kindfox stepped up and beat on Offbeat Ninja for a round of his own. Offbeat Ninja fell back into classic form, ripping through his opponent for three rounds straight, taking the game 5-1, padding the CORE’s scoreboard.
